PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a construction term of underground jointing and to reduce the construction cost by swelling a tube seal from the internal circumferential face of a large-diameter shield machine to the outer face of the penetration side shield machine with the interval between the small-diameter and large-diameter shield machines sealed together. SOLUTION: In a joint point, the connection between a small-diameter shield machine body 1 of a receiver side shield machine R and a large-diameter shield machine body 8 is released and the connection of the small-diameter cutter disk 7Dm and a large-diameter cutter disk 7Dn is released. Secondly, while the dead weight of the small-diameter shield machine body 1 is supported by the large-diameter shield machine body 8, the sealing performance between them is held and the small-diameter shield machine M is retreated along the internal circumferential face of the large-diameter shield machine N. Thirdly, the penetration side shield machine penetrates in the large-diameter shield machine N. Then, a tube seal 13 is swelled to the outer face of the penetration side shield machine body from the internal circumferential face of the large-diameter shield machine body 8 with the interval between the small-diameter shield machine body 1 and the large-diameter shield machine body 8 sealed together. This constitution can shorten the construction term of the underground joint and reduce the construction cost.
