PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a microbicidal agent for industrial purposes that can retain the excellent effect as it is and is useful as a mildew-proofing agent, a preservative, and an antibacterial agent for plastic products, paints, adhesives and the like by using an isothiazoline compound, a benzimidazole compound and the like as active ingredients. SOLUTION: This microbicidal agent comprises (A) an isothiazoline compound, preferably 2-n-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one, preferably in an amount of 2-12 pts.wt.; (B) a benzimidazole compound, preferably methyl 2-benzimidazole- carbamete, preferably in an amount of 2-12 pts.wt.; and (C) a laminar clay mineral, preferably montmorillonite, preferably in an amount of 10-40 pts.wt. When montmorillonite is used as a component C, the weight ratio of montmorillonite: the component A: the component B is preferably set to 4:1:1.
