PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a metal band with an embossed pattern which presents a uniform appearance by providing the embossed pattern having a certain depth. SOLUTION: Rolls the recessed parts 12, 22 of which are formed in end parts in the axial direction of the roll of embossing parts 11, 21 where projecting and recessed parts are provided are used as a work roll 10, 20 on at least one side. An embossed pattern part is provided on the metal band S0 which is fed between the work rolls 10, 20 with the embossing part 11, 21 and also the side parts in the width direction of this embossed pattern part are taken as unrolled parts in accordance with the recessed parts 12, 22. With thickness gages 31 which are arranged on the downstream side of the work rolls 10, 20, the thickness t1 of this unrolled part is continuously measured and, based on this measured value of thickness, the rolling force P1 to the metal band S0 is adjusted.
