PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the bore flashing of sub-injection fuel from occurring by setting up a spray angle of a fuel injection means for the specified cylinder to be smaller than that of other cylinders. SOLUTION: As to five fuel injection valves 31 to 35 of respective cylinders 11 to 15 (fifth from first) of a cylinder direct-injection type diesel engine 1, a spray angle should be set to a wide angle each, and pertaining to these cylinders 11 to 15, main injection alone takes place from these fuel injection valves 31 to 35. A spray angle of a fuel injection valve 36 for a sixth cylinder 16 is set to be smaller than that of the other fuel injection valves 31 to 35, and as to the sixth cylinder 16, both main and sub injections take place from the fuel injection valve 36.
