PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method for controlling the sharing of a data storage device by which a user can execute operation without being aware of the data storage device to which each host can be connected in a system equipped with plural exclusive controllers and accessing the data storage device among host groups under the control of the exclusive controllers. SOLUTION: Host systems are provided which consist of host group 11 and 12 whose access to the data storage device 30 is controlled through exclusive controllers 10 and 20 and the IDs of the exclusive controllers 10 and 20 controlling hosts connected to the data storage device 30 shared by the hosts of groups are registered in the data storage device 30; when another host is not connected to the data storage device 30 at its request for connection with the data storage device 30 or when the host is connected to the data storage device 30, the connection is allowed on condition that the registered ID matches the ID of the exclusive controller that the host belongs to, but when not, the connection is not permitted.
