PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obviate a rise in manufacturing cost even in case of adopting such a constitution that a guide groove or the like is installed in a lifter bore in order to prevent the valve lifter for a three-dimensional cam from being rotatated. SOLUTION: A sleeve 23 is locked to a hole part 9a installed in a cylinder head 9, and a valve lifter 19 is set up in a sliding hole installed in the sleeve 23 as a lifter bore 23a. The lifter bore 23a is not merely a cylindrical form, but provided with a groove 23b extending in the axial direction of the lifter bore 23a. Such being formed in the cylinder head 9 is a mere cylindrical hole part 9a, whereby since its inner surface is not a sliding surface, formation is extremely easy to be done. In addition, since the sleeve 23 is simple in form and compact in type, the cylindrical sliding hole and the groove 23b in the axial direction are easy to be formed in the sleeve 23 by means of machining. Consequently, a rise in manufacturing costs is thus preventable even as a whole.
