PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance work efficiency by automating designing work of a database by replacing database capacity in a database arrangement management file while defining a database name as a key after the database capacity is calculated. SOLUTION: When information about the number of cases by every database(DB) is acquired from a file 2 of the number of cases of the DB, the DB capacity calculation and the index DB capacity calculation are performed from the information about the number of cases by a DB capacity calculating function 5 and the capacity is replaced in the DB arrangement management file 4 by defining the DB name as key by a computer 1. Next, the total DB capacity by every medium is judged as for whether it exceeds the entire capacity of the medium or not. When it exceeds the entire capacity, a new medium name is acquired from a medium management file 9, and the DB is transferred and defined as optimal arrangement design by a DB arranging function 6. After that, a DB definition body is created from the DB capacity, a medium name at a storage address and JCL for extending and reducing work of the DB is created from the DB name by a working function 7 of JCL for work and a definition body creating function 8. Thus, automation of the DB designing work is enabled.
