PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition with slight color tone change when subjected to high-temperature melt processing, good in the color tone of the molded products therefrom and high in flame retardancy by controlling specific impurities found in the bromine compound to be used as a flame-retardant for the composition at a specified level or lower. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by incorporating (A) 100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic resin with (B) 1-50 pts.wt. of a bromine compound and (C) 0-25 pts.wt. of an inorganic flame retarding auxiliary; wherein the component B is predominant in a bromine compound of formula I (X is a halogen; (m) and (n) are each 1-6; (a) and (b) are each 0-10, and (a+b) is >=1; Ar1 and Ar2 are each a 5-16C aromatic hydrocarbon or the like; Y1 is a 1-6C saturated hydrocarbon or the like; R1 and R2 are each a 2-11C hydrocarbon) and contains a total of <=0.02 mol, per mol of the compound of formula I, of compounds of formula II ((p), (q), (r) and (s) are each 1-6; (c), (d), (e) and (f) are each 0-10; (c+f) is >=1; Ar3 to Ar6 are each a 5-16C hydrocarbon or the like; Y2 and Y3 are each a 1-6C saturated hydrocarbon or the like; R3 to R6 are each a 2-11C hydrocarbon) and the like.
