PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assist a driver to park with a simple structure by reading the parking intension of the driver accurately, and reducing the burden of image processing. SOLUTION: In a parking operating time, a running prediction locus 20 is displayed on a display 13 depending on a steering angle, a specific area of window for detecting the white line 31 of the parking section 30 at the periphery of the running prediction locus 20 is set by making the display position of the displayed running prediction locus 20 as a reterence and the white line 31 is detected with the window. The position and the direction of the white line 31 is detected when the white line 31 is in the window area, the parking section 30 is checked by the feature and the geometrical arrangement of the white line 31 depending on the detecting result, and an adequate report is carried out to the driver according to the parking operating condition.
