PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress useless consumption of material to be ejected while eliminating clogging of nozzle when ejection is required and to detect clogging of each nozzle at a relatively low cost even in case of a miniature multiple nozzle. SOLUTION: Ink is ejected sequentially from a nozzle 7 to the diaphragm 10 of a microphone 9 under pressure of same level as normal printing time. Impact sound of ink is then detected and choke of the nozzle 7 is detected based on the fact whether the sound is detected by the microphone 9 or not depending on the ejection timing of each nozzle 7. The diaphragm 10 serving as a detection face is arranged to incline so that ejected ink does not stand but flows smoothly downward.
