PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photosensitive material having high sensitivity by incorporating specified two methine compds. SOLUTION: A methine compd. selected from a group of compds. of formula I and a methine compd. selected from a group of compds. of formula II are incorporated. In the formula I, V1-V5 are each H or a substituent, L is a divalent combining group, Z1 is an atomic group required to form a 5- or 6-membered nitrogen-contg. heterocycle, L1 and L2 are each methine, p1 is 0 or 1, M1 is a counter ion equilibrated with an electric charge, m1 is a number of 0-10 required to neutralize electric charges in one molecule and Q is optionally substd. methine or polymethine required to form a methine dye. In the formula II, V6-V10 are each H or a substituent and L, Z1, L1, L2, p1, M1, m1 and Q have the same meanings as L, Z1, L1, L2, p1, M1, m1 and Q in the formula I, respectively. In the formulae I and II, V1-V5 (V6-V10) are a combination of H atoms and substituents selected so that the sum total of the Hammett's substituent constantsσp of the substituents is adjusted to <=0(>=0.20).
