PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxygen sensor element capable of obtaining high sensor outputs and being excellent in heat resistance as well as in responsiveness. SOLUTION: An oxygen sensor element 1 comprises a solid electrolyte 15, a reference gas chamber 16 provided therein, a measuring electrode 11 provided on the outer surface 150 of the chamber 16, and a reference electrode 12 provided on the inner surface 160 of the chamber 16. The outer surface 150 has a measurement gas contact surface 13 making contact with a gas to be measured, in the range of a length L from the element end 159. The length L1 of the measuring electrode 11 is 0.2 L or more and the measuring electrode 11 is provided within the range of a length of 0.8 L from the element end 159. The thickness of the measuring electrode 11 is from 0.5 to 3.0 μm. |
