PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide satisfactory reproduced sounds to many listeners when an original audio signal is converted into a signal of multi-channel and transmitted. SOLUTION: Multi-channel processing sections 4-1 to 4-n convert the original audio signal of a stereo 2 channel into the signal of multi-channel by a plurality of different methods. Plural kinds of multi-channel audio data are transmitted through a recording or communication medium such as an audio disk (DVD), and a user reproduces multi-channel audio data by a desired method. The multi- channel audio data are also transmitted together with the original audio signal of the stereo 2 channel.
