PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin-form signal generating device arranged efficiently together with other members when installed in electric apparatus and provide an electric apparatus embodied in a small size and equipped with such a signal generating device. SOLUTION: A signal generating device is to convert the turning amount of an operating dial 1 into an electric signal and emit as the output signal, wherein the dial 1 has a circular shape and is composed of a chassis 4, a ring- shaped sliding piece 2 consolidated with the dial 1, a ring-shaped holder 3 secured onto the chassis 4, and contacting pieces to convert the turning amount of the dial 1 into an electric signal, wherein the sliding piece 2 slides on the holder 3.
