PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass barrier rib at a low cost, at a high accuracy, at a high degree of freedom in design and at an easy manufacturing by providing a glass powder- containing layer on a transparent substrate, cutting it to form a glass powder- containing barrier rib, baking it and forming a glass barrier rib. SOLUTION: A glass paste made by mixing a glass power, an alumina powder and a cellulose resin with a solid content containing PbO as a main component is solid-printed on a glass substrate 1 having a high distortion point being provided with an electrode 3 and a MgO dielectric layer 2 by a screen printing to form a glass power-containing layer 4 having a thickness of 200μm. The glass powder-containing layer 4 is cut from one substrate terminal to the other terminal by a rotating blade 5 of a diamond grinding wheel having a diameter of 50 mm and a blade width of 0.5 mm and is moved in parallel by 0.6 mm. Cutting is repeated to form a stripe barrier rib. After cutting, the layer 4 is baked at 550 deg.C and the resin content contained in the barrier rib are decomposed and removed to form a rectangular glass barrier rib at a high accuracy. Since the glass barrier rib does not have a remained carbon and a crack, a plasma display having a high emission efficiency and a high reliability can be manufactured.
