PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the rotor of an AC generator for a vehicle, in which eccentricity of a multi-stage layer part of a field winding is eliminated, vibration at high speed rotation can be reduced, space factor is increased, high output is realized, rigidity is increased and electomagnetic sound can be reduced. SOLUTION: A bobbin 16 is inserted in base parts 121a, 121b of a pair of field iron cores 12a, 12b. A field winding 20 is wound in multi-stages around a cylindrical part 16a of the bobbin 16 at a specified number of turns. The field winding 20 is so wound in multilayer around the cylindrical part 16a that a pair of facing planes have parallel flat shapes and become an inner peripheral surface and an outer peripheral surface in the radial direction of the cylindrical part 16a.
