PREPARATION OF OLEFIN POLYMERIZATION CATALYST COMPONENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preparation process for a solid catalyst component which exhibits a high polymerization activity and also yields a polymer having a high bulk density and containing a reduced amount of fine powder when used in polymerization of an olefin. SOLUTION: The titled process comprises (A) a step wherein a metallocene transition metal compound is brought into contact with an activator, (B) a step wherein a product obtained in the above-mentioned process (A) is brought into contact with anα-olefin and (C) a step wherein a product obtained in the above-mentioned process (B) is added with a metallocene transition metal compound. As the activator, one or more compounds chosen from the group consisting of ionic compounds which is capable of reacting with aluminum oxy compounds, Lewis acids or metallocene transition metal compounds to convert them into cations, or an ion exchange lamellar silicate is preferably used.
