<p>A novel polymeric material for artificial bones, characterized by comprising a solid or gel-form base which comprises as the main component either a polysaccharide having carboxyl groups or groups derived therefrom or a polysaccharide having incorporated therein carboxyl groups or groups derived therefrom and which has calcium ions bonded thereto.
