Cracks are filled in ceramic articles, for transformers, circuit breakers, current supplies and magnetic components, using a low melting and/or flow temperature filler containing crystallizable non-metallic compounds

Removal of cracks in ceramic articles involves application and heating of a low melting and/or flow temperature filler containing crystallizable non-metallic compounds. Cracks are filled in ceramic articles by applying a lower melting and/or flow temperature filler onto the article surface in the crack region and then heating the article to a temperature at which the filler melts and/or flows and at which non-metallic compounds in the filler crystallize. An Independent claim is also included for articles and magnetic articles with 1-8 grains and with one or more cracks and/or contaminated or structurally distorted regions which have been removed (e.g. by sawing) and then healed by the above process.
