<p>A method for managing a multimedia file comprises the step of creating index information including a source identifier representing a source containing one or more management units concerning the multimedia file as a title frame, the positions of the first and last frames of the title frame, and the position of a reference frame for decoding the first frame and the step of adding the index information to the multimedia file and recording the file on a recording medium. The method may comprise the step of allowing the user to specify one or more management units concerning the multimedia file as a title frame, the step of creating index information in which a bit stream containing the coded specified title frame is embedded, and the step of adding the index information to the multimedia file and recording the multimedia file on a recording medium.</p> |
