Magnetically modulated potentiometer based on the magnetoresistive properties of manganese oxides

This invention consists in the development of a potentiometer, that is to say a variable electrical resistance device, in which a change in resistance is obtained in the active element without there being any mechanical contact with the moving part. The active element of the potentiometer which is the subject of the present invention is a magnetoresistive material. In it, resistance modulation is obtained by applying a variable magnetic field to it. By means of said materials and a suitable magnetic circuit, the potentiometer is manufactured. As characteristic properties which differentiate it from conventional potentiometers, the absence of mechanical contact should be noted.
