HIGH FREQUENCY SYNCHRONOUS ROTARY ELECTRICAL MACHINE

A synchronous multiphase rotary electrical machine (30) comprising in one preferred embodiment, a stator teeth (34) grouped into two or more sets. Each set (34) is associated with an armature winding (36) wound in a plane perpendicular to the rotational axis (41) of the machine. The rotor teeth (46) are spaced at the same pitch as the stator teeth (34) of a single set. When DC current is provided to an excitation winding (38) concentric with the rotational axis (41), an m-phase alternating EMF is induced in the armature windings (36). With two tandem groups of such sets of stator teeth (34), each with its own tooth pitch, alternating EMFs of different frequencies are generated. Two alternating EMFs of different frequencies are heterodyned to provide alternating EMF at the difference frequencies.
