The shutoffs (11) come in slide form (12) to slide in in front of the respective branch (10) and are superposed by a movable scrape or wiper element (25) which cleans off the obverse of the returning slide (12) each time. The scraper etc (25) can be slid to one side to close off the respective branch (10) and to close off the slide passage entry (27) by the scraper wall once the slide has re-set. The scraper or wiper can be raised and/or moved under spring load, and the slide front is fed at 5-45 deg to the vertical so as to advance the slide (12).
