The trap, to be positioned behind the targets in a shooting range, is a wall composed of a number of layers (27-29) of steel cables (26), in succession in the firing direction (1). The steel cables (26) in at least one layer (27-29) are at a tangent to each other at the peripheral side and are offset from each other in layers across the firing line to give a gap-free cover of the target backing.
