It consists in preselecting granular, hard materials of natural origin, such as silicic, carbon-containing and clay- type materials; placing the granulate in a uniform layer in a mould of regular geometrical shape; incorporating a binding resin in the form of an intimate mixture with the particles of the material deposited; for slabs of greater absorbent power, separately preparing a mixture of granulate of smaller size than the previous one plus a resin, preferably of the epoxy type, and optionally incorporating a dye in the mass. The particle size may vary, according to the applications, between 4 mm and 88 mm for the largest one, between 1 mm and 4 mm for the middle one and between 0.04 mm and 1.2 mm for the smallest one. Applicable to the mechanized production of slabs of regular geometrical configuration for absorbing sounds and vibrations and for containing fire. <IMAGE>
