The coupling system, to link hose sections together used to carry liquids, has a base unit with a recess and a counter unit with at least one locking lever to engage the recess. The recess (5) of the base unit (1) is a peripheral groove round an outer circumference (6) of the base unit (1). When the base unit (1) and the counter unit (2) have been mated together, a holder (4) lies along the recess (5). When the locking lever (3) is moved into the locking position, the holder (4) is moved across the center line (10) of the counter unit (2) to be pushed into the recess (5).
