PURPOSE: A trap managing method is disclosed which improves the reliability of a network and the capability of the fault restoration, by using a trap manager for managing a fault trap produced in a network element itself. CONSTITUTION: A trap managing method with a trap filter comprises steps of operating a trap manager for selectively displaying and managing only trap information of a network element which is needed by a manager through a filtering function, setting the trap manager, informing the trap information to the manager if a fault is produced in the network element, and restoring the fault by the manager. Thereby, network management may be effected more rapidly and more reliably.
