PURPOSE: A call inquiring apparatus and method of an electronic switching system which inquires a calling and a calling state of a telephone subscriber in a switching system and providing calling inquiring contents to the telephone subscriber are provided. CONSTITUTION: A call inquiring apparatus of a switching system which monitors calling contents of a special subscriber and providing a call inquiring service capable of inquiring, the apparatus; a call inquiring controller for transmitting and receiving all kinds of signal messages to and from a switching device signal processing module through an X 25 interface card, sensing a receipt and transmission with respect to a special registering number of a subscriber registered in a call inquiring service, and monitoring a repeating line allotment/cancellation for a calling inquiry of a corresponding subscriber and calling contents through a monitoring device; and a monitoring device operated under a control of the call inquiring controller for monitoring data information and sound information.
