[Also in Division B8] A guide 5, comprising two adjacent members having cylindrically concave guide faces on their mutually facing side surfaces and cylindrically convex guide faces on their top surfaces, holds open the tops of bags formed by welding together two opposed webs of thermoplastic material 2a, 2b to facilitate filling of the bags. The guide surfaces are so formed that all points of a web passing over them have the same length of travel. The webs 2a, 2b may be cut from a single web 2 by a blade 4 and directed into the guide 5 by a guide plate 3 having a V-shaped recess with inclined edges 3a, 3b. |
