[Also in Division C3] In an Example a metal substrate is coated, by hand spraying, with an enamel comprising a thermosetting addition polymer, a melamineformaldehyde resin, titanium dioxide, butanol, petroleum naphtha and xylol, and the coating is baked at 300‹F for 30 minutes. The polymer is obtained by copolymerising styrene, ethyl acrylate and acrylamide and reacting amide groups of the product with a glycidyl ester of a branched chain carboxylic acid. The enamel can be modified by replacing some of the polymer with a dehydrated castor oil alkyd resin.
