PURPOSE: A device for receiving facsimile data and method thereof are provided to maximize the safety in receiving the fax data by allowing the compound device to complete the receiving of the fax data in case an error occurs during the transmission of fax data from the compound device to the computer and the data cannot be received by the computer. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of determining whether to receive the fax data or not(S100); a step of detecting the operation status of the computer(100) which receives the fax data(S200); a step of memorizing the fax data at the memory part(120) of the computer(100)(S300); a step of examining whether the computer operates normally or not(S400); a step of outputting the fax data received at the storing part(220) of the compound device(200) from an outputting part(280)(S500); and a step of indicating the result of received fax to user(S600).
