PURPOSE: A wireless communication apparatus for efficiently assigning channels to the plurality of mobile stations in a service area of a base station and a method thereof are provided. CONSTITUTION: A method of assigning channels to a plurality of mobile stations in a service area of a base station includes the steps of: broadcasting an information of a channel resource using state to the plurality of mobile stations every time periods (501); receiving the information at each of the plurality of mobile stations (402); causing the plurality of mobile stations to store the received information; retrieving the information from each of the plurality of the mobile stations when a request for using the channel resource is received (403, 404); performing an operation of determining whether the use of the channel resource is capable (405); transmitting the request of using the channel resource to the base station when the use of the channel resource is capable (408); and transmitting a rejection message to the plurality of mobile stations when the use of the channel resource is impossible (406). According to the method, since all mobile stations can determine whether the restricted resource is assigned, it is possible to efficiently assign channels to the plurality of mobile stations.
