PURPOSE: The system is provided to protect/switch a transmission path effectively. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a optical divider, an optical switching unit(6) and a path selection control unit(7). The optical divider divides and sends a optical signal output from sender into a operation path and a protection path(5). The optical switching unit switches the optical signal transmitted via the two path. The path selection control unit controls the optical switching unit. Thereby, the system does not require a back-up of a transmission apparatus so that it is possible to protect/switch a transmission path effectively.
