PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for processing a picture of a front monitor and a rear monitor using a VDP is provided, which controls a picture of a front monitor and a rear monitor using one VDP in a car audio/video system. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for processing a picture of a front monitor and a rear monitor using a VDP comprises: a VDP board (100) for outputting a vertical/horizontal synchronizing signal; a navigation (200) for displaying a map picture on a monitor; a TV tuner (300) for displaying a television picture on the monitor; a video switch unit (400) for selectively outputting a video signal to a monitor unit according to a control signal provided from a microcomputer; a RGB switch unit (500) for selectively outputting a RGB signal to the monitor unit according to the control signal; and a synchronizing switch (600) for inputting a vertical reset and a horizontal reset for displaying a phrase. Thereby, it is possible to have a considerable competitive power in a cost.
