PURPOSE: A subscriber line interface apparatus is provided to detect whether each subscriber line is used and cut off power in a subscriber line which is not in service. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises an analog treating part and an off-hook detecting part (10) for detecting whether a line matching part is in service, an off-hook interface and a switch controlling part (9) which receive a signal detected by the analog treating part and the off-hook detecting part and provide the signal to a power-down control part (15), and a control and digital signal treating part (5) which set the analog treating part and the off-hook detecting part, a DMT (discrete multi-tone) framer/interface part (4), and a DMT treating part (7) into a power down mode. Thereby, since the other device in the subscriber line interface apparatus which is connected with the subscriber line matching part is powered down responding to a power supplying state of the subscriber line matching part, the power is saved.
