A circuit for sensing power in a force feedback interface device is disclosed. That device interfaces a user with a host computer and the circuit is provided in the force feedback device. The circuit comprises means (134) for storing power wherein said power is provided by a signal input (138) to the circuit, a control device (94) for providing a control signal (146) to an actuator (96) provided in the interface device, and sensing means (144) coupled to the means (134) for storing power, wherein the sensing means (144) are sensing when the means (134) for storing power is sufficiently charged to provide power to the actuator (96).
