PURPOSE: Disclosed is a gas discharge lamp for dielectrically impeded discharge, wherein the anodes are arranged in pairs. The invention further relates to a corresponding lighting system with a pulse voltage source and a flat-panel display system comprising a flat screen. CONSTITUTION: The gas discharge lamp comprises a discharge vessel (202), a plurality of stripe-type anodes (203, 204, 224), a plurality of cathodes (203, 204, 224), and at least one dielectric layers (215, 228, 229) for dielectrically impeded discharge, wherein at least one pair of anodes (205, 225ab) is arranged between adjacent two cathodes (203, 204, 224). The spaced distance between the pair of anodes (225a, 225b) is smaller than that of the spaced distance the adjacent cathodes (203, 204, 224).
