PURPOSE: A hydraulic motor vehicle braking system with an anti-blocking device is provided to prevent or to eliminate the risk of wheel lock by the braking pressures being independently changed in the front wheel brake and the rear wheel brake in a four-wheeled vehicle. CONSTITUTION: The aim of the invention is to create an inexpensive hydraulic vehicle braking system with an anti-blocking device enabling the braking pressures in front wheel brakes and rear wheel brakes which are connected to diagonal brake circuits in a four-wheeled vehicle to be altered extensively, independently of one another, in order to reduce or eliminate the risk of wheel lock. the anti-lock device should have a return pump for each brake circuit. The anti-blocking device (15) is equipped with a total of six electrically controlled valves. A first valve (28, 29) between the master brake cylinder (2) and a front wheel brake (7, 8), a second valve (30, 31) between the master brake cylinder (2) and the rear wheel brake (11, 12) and a third valve (32, 33) between the front wheel brake (7,8) and an inlet (49) of each of the return pumps (34, 35) are situated in each of the brake circuits. The inlets (49) of the return pumps (34, 35) are each indirectly connected to the rear wheel brakes by means of return valves (37) which can be opened to the inlets (49) of the return pumps (34, 35). The anti-blocking device has an inexpensive design and makes it possible for rear wheel braking pressures to be higher than front wheel braking pressures during operation of the anti-blocking device, for example on an icy road, to ensure more effective braking.
