PURPOSE: A method for calculating the number of moving tracks of an optical disk is provided to exactly calculate the number of the moving tracks corresponding to a revolving sled motor clock. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of detecting a duty ratio of a sled motor revolving clock, controlling the detected duty ratio with a constant ratio, and calculating the number of moving tracks corresponding to the number of the revolving clocks controlled with the constant ratio. The control of the detected duty ratio is performed by varying a level of reference voltage which is used for detecting the revolving tracks.
