PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for controlling a PC according to a headphone insertion is provided, which recognizes a signal outputted from a headphone jack unit according a headphone insertion and controls a speaker inserted in a PC or a monitor. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus and method for controlling a PC according to a headphone insertion comprises: an amplifying terminal for amplifying a sound signal outputted from a sound card of a PC (10) at a uniform level; an audio control unit for controlling the sound signal of the amplifying terminal; a headphone jack unit (23) having a plurality of switch for switching the sound signal to be provided to a left and right speaker (24); a microprocessor (25) for controlling an unnecessary function provided in the PC (10) according to the switching signal; and a speaker (24) for outputting the sound signal amplified in the amplifying terminal. Thereby, it is possible to hear a wanted sound.
