PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring method wherein a travel distance required for measuring an object length is sufficiently short even for an object which is to be measured ranging from small to large objects. SOLUTION: In a method for measuring the length of an object while the object is transported with a front end surface of the object contacting a rare end surface of a protruding part formed on the surface of a belt circulating endlessly, a distance L1 between the protruding part contacting/supporting the front end part of the object and a sensor installed in the middle of a transportation path is added to a distance L2 from there to the rare end part of the object to acquire a length L of the object, and a plurality of sensors are allocated along the transportation direction of the article with interval, for providing the length L of the object based on the measuring result by the sensors.
