A shelf support system that includes brackets which can be releasably mounted between two opposing series of mounting holes at a height selected by the installer is described. The vertically extending members are located in one or more opposing pairs. The brackets have tabs at either end that engage the holes in the vertically extending members to support the bracket at both of its ends. The tabs at one end of each bracket are movably attached to the bracket to allow the bracket to be releasably installed. Each bracket is most easily installed in a desired horizontal position.
