PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polarizing plate allowing the formation of a liquid crystal display device which makes it possible to lower bulk in spite of omission of a light diffusion sheet and substantially prevents the generation of interference fringes in spite of the control of the optical path by a condenser sheet. SOLUTION: This light diffusion polarizing plate has light diffusion layers 1 formed in tight contact with the one or both surfaces of the polarizing plate 2. The transmittance of perpendicular incident light on its reference plane is >=40% and the ratio A/B of the light intensity A in the vertical direction and the light intensity B in the direction inclined 10 deg. therewith is <=1.7 or the cloud value based on the light transparent side is >=50% or the transmittance as the diffused light is >=25%. As a result, the light diffusion layers in tight contact with the polarizing plate diffuse the incident light, such as optical path control light, by the condenser sheet without largely changing the control optical path by the condenser sheet. The display device of food visibility which prevents the generation of the interference fringes, allows the omission of the arrangement of the separate light diffusion sheet, allows the omission of an adhesive layer as well by the tight contact with the polarizing plate, may be made low in bulk, is of a thin type and hardly gives rise to the occurrence of the interference fringes may be formed. |
