PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using a lithium manganese oxide for a cathode active material with excellent characteristics of discharge load and charge-discharge cycle. SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises positive electrode 2 which has a positive mixture layer containing a lithium manganese oxide as a positive active material, and a negative electrode 3 which has a negative mixture layer containing a carbon material capable of doping or de- doping lithium metal, a lithium alloy or lithium as a positive active material, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. A carbon material contained in the negative mixture layer of the negative electrode 3 as a negative active material is non- graphitizahble carbon, which has a diffraction peak of 0.36 nm or longer in its (002) plane measured by an X-ray diffraction method, and the weight ratio of the positive and negative active materials per facing area 3:1 or 4:1. |
