PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a video data editing device by which an operator easily executes video editing in spite of the occurrence of video acoustic data with an incomplete length with high frequency by executing connection so as to permit the continuous length of a detected first segment with at least a part of the second segment to be longer than a prescribed length. SOLUTION: A tip part and an end part are erased as being expressed by broken lines in AV files Af1 and Af2. In this case, the continuous length of the AV file Af1 is less than an AV block length. In the same way, a data size of in-memory data which is encoded again is less than the data size of the AV block. Therefore, a MERGE command with the AV files Af and the AV file Af+1 as an object is issued to a file system. Thus, the AV file Af1 is connected to re-encoded VOBU and the continuous length of a recording area in whole extent constituting the AV file Af becomes more than the AV block length.
