PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program storage medium capable of obtaining an image high in quality by reducing the information quantity of a bit map image held in a document, quickly and efficiently executing a layout work and changing reading resolution to the optimum one in accordance with a changed size even when a printing output size is changed at the time of printing. SOLUTION: When the layout of an operation object is executed on the document, the image read by an image reading means 4 with a low resolution used, the reading resolution being optimum for the printing output is set based on original image information at the time of reading the image of low resolution and printing output size information in the case of the printing output, and also, the image reading means 4 reads the image with this reading resolution so that a program to be printed and outputted is stored.
