摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain desired output density characteristics without being affected by an individuality difference. SOLUTION: In an S1, test patterns (toner images) obtained by binarizing input data at 64, 96 and 128 levels are each outputted onto the entire surface of a blank sheet of paper with an A3 size being a transfer material P one by one (three sheets in all). In the case where the direction in which the transfer material P is passed through is the direction of the its long side, each of the test patterns are formed so as to extend equal to or longer than one periphery of a photoreceptor drum. In an S2, the test patterns on the three sheets are successively read by an image input device, and the average of each density data is obtained. In an S3, from the averages of the three pieces of density data, a linear equation that is the most approximate to the three points is found using a method of least squares. Thus, errors in correction due to nonuniform electrification potential and nonuniform development caused on the photoreceptor drum can be restricted to the smallest degree, and the desired output density characteristic can be obtained without being affected by the individually difference.
