PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrical connector assembly for a card, capable of having a short height, having a small number of additional connections interposing between the card and a circuit board to have high connection reliability, and capable of interconnecting a ground contact of the card and the circuit board. SOLUTION: An electrical connector assembly 1 for a card comprises a card side connector 10 for receiving the card, and a relay connector 50 to be mounted on a circuit board. Each contact 30 of the card side connector 10 has a male contact part 34, while each contact 60 of the relay connector 50 has a female contact part 62 fitting with the male contact part 34. The card side connector 10 is fitted to the relay connector 50 along the same direction as a card insertion direction. Both the connectors 10, 50 have ground plates 40, 70 contacting with each other on their respective upper surfaces. The ground plates 40, 70 are disposed above the contacts 30, 60 nearly parallel to the contacts 30, 60.
