PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance utilization factor of nickel hydroxide powder acting as an active material to enhance charging efficiency of a battery. SOLUTION: This nickel electrode 2 is formed by supporting a positive mix containing nickel hydroxide powder and particles having zirconium-containing cobalt hydroxide as the main component on a current collector. The content of zirconium in the zirconium-containing cobalt hydroxide is 0.5-20 mol.% based on 1 mole of cobalt, primary particles of the zirconium-containing cobalt hydroxide exist on the surface of the nickel hydroxide powder, and 3-17 pts.wt. zirconium-containing cobalt hydroxide is contained based on 100 pts.wt. nickel hydroxide powder.
