HIGH PRESSURE DISCHARGE LAMP

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure discharge lamp capable of enduring erosion and a temperature variation, and having a lead member or an electric conductor usable for a lamp particularly sealed with metal halide. SOLUTION: This high pressure discharge lamp is constituted wherein both end parts are sealed by a ceramic plug 11; a metallic electric conductor 10 is disposed through the plug 11; and a ceramic discharge tube 8 filled with an ionized discharge material is provided inside thereof. In this case, at least inside part of the discharge tube 8 of the metallic electric conductor 10 has a thermal expansion coefficient smaller than that of its ceramic material and the metallic electric conductor 10 is directly sintered and fixed to the plug 11 with hermetic property.
